“Under the watchful eyes of my children—a newborn son and a seven-year-old daughter—I began capturing moments within the framework of our home. Returning to New Brunswick during the extreme moment of the pandemic, I rediscovered the landscapes, sounds, and language of my own childhood, seen anew through my children’s eyes. These photographs are an exploration of connection, growth, and the tender intersections of past and present.”

Magali Charron is a French-Canadian interdisciplinary artist from Sackville, New Brunswick. Her creative practice spans photography, sculpture, music, and performance, with an enduring focus on themes of intimacy, alienation, and the search for connection in the everyday. Born in Moncton, NB, Magali spent her formative years in New York City, honing her craft as an assistant to Vogue photographer Hannah Thomson and immersing herself in the city’s vibrant art and music scenes.
As a member of the critically-acclaimed indie-rock band Caged Animals, Magali toured internationally and released five albums, while also collaborating with artists such as Charles Bradley, Yasmine Hamdan, and Nick Cave. Her immersive storytelling extended to New York’s experimental theater scene, where she contributed to celebrated productions like Houseworld and Bottom of the Ocean.
Despite her varied creative pursuits, photography has always been Magali’s first love. With Parenthèse, her debut photography book, she presents an intimate and poetic meditation on family, memory, and the landscapes that shape us.
